For work, I run my own successful software business and I find the responsibility and challenges of being the boss perfectly balanced with the freedom to set my own schedule and make time for whenever else I want to do. For the latter, I'm into a lot of different sports and am active as much as I can (skiing, soccer, curling, cycling, running are the main ones.) I recently retired from a competitive cross country ski career where I had the opportunity to be on the National ski team for many years and a member of the 2006 Olympic team. Now that I've retired, sports are strictly for fun and fitness.
I love photography and I can be seen at a lot of race sites snapping shots or out taking shots of the beauty around Canmore. I've had a number of photos published in various magazines and corporate publications. I also enjoy video production and have a number of videos on youtube covering my ski career and other adventures. So as fun and as computer programming, photography, sports, and videos are, I also like to work with my hands and build something tangible once in a while. I love to get out and work in my garden landscaping and just finished building a pond and waterfall this summer. I love my fish and I can be spotted out working in the garden several times a week. I also like to build log/wood furniture and have a number of pieces about the house.
I am very passionate about world events, politics, economics, and staying connected and engaged in what is happening in the world. I spend too much time reading news and in depth articles but I have an insatiable quest for knowledge and feel a responsibility to be informed and to help out where I can.
As for personality, I'm very passionate and driven to be the best I can be at everything I do. I'm a bit of a perfectionist about all my work as I never want to have regrets about not doing the best job I can. I'm very independent and self-sufficient (I enjoy cooking, making bread, and keep a very minimalist and tidy house.) I am quite introverted in that I enjoy a bit of alone time to regenerate and work quietly. But I also enjoy the company of others to share in the fun and many activities around Canmore. I live passionately and optimistically as I love life and see the beauty around me every day.
