Recently I started a new position that takes me out of town a lot, tough on my social life but its been like throwing gasoline on a fire for my career. My family is very important to me; I have a close relationship with my parents and have a seemingly ever-increasing number of nephews. My four-year-old nephew is now the perfect height to punch me in the balls. So adorable! Some of my other interests include offbeat and unusual movies (heard of Enter the Void or Eraserhead?), watching fight sports and watching live music. Meet someone special from Alberta, Canada. Let's see... As you can all tell i'm Asian but actually i'm 2rd generation Canadian. I grew up as a Canadian... I have all the same traditions as you guys do...
But some people don't know the difference. Like how some people think Chinese people speak Chinese - Which is pretty ignorant because there's no language called Chinese. I get that all the time... "Hey Jay, How do you say "Hi" in Chinese?" and i'm like well there's no language called Chinese so I don't know what you're asking me. There is Cantonese and there is Mandarin and thousands of versions of it but no Chinese.
Growing up I was picked on alot. We used to live near this park and every night whenever I was playing in the playground my mother call me in for supper but by my Chinese nickname. Note my Chinese name is Wing-Ho and for nick names you add "AH in the beginning meaning Mister". So whenever I was playing in the park my mother would call out "AHH-HO... AHH-HO.." Let me tell you - children pick on those that are different.
I have an older sister. I love my sister. She's the best sister in the world. Growing up she raised me more than my mother did. The one thing I'll always remember is she used to give me treats every time I was good. Little chocolates that didn't have much taste... actually it was bitter... but the fact it was chocolate made me want it. Later I found out they were dog chocolates. Turns out she never wanted a little brother, but wanted a dog...
