Date someone special from Canada. I'm just looking around right now so I'm not sure what to say. I think that religious values are really important because they set the tone of a relationship and when problems arise, there is an agreed on value system.
I'm generally an idealist in value, but I am a realist in action. Raised in small towns, my dad's background never really stuck to me. My mom being a Canadian revert has led me to be willing to look at family and being a Canadian Muslim from a slightly different angle. My 5 kids are excited about me remarrying and having a stepmom - so I guess they're kinda different, too!
I don’t believe in “Westerner”, I see myself as one of many Canadians and I don’t see how religion/culture can be wrapped up in a locational label. If you are looking for someone longing to live overseas, it isn’t me. I did have great experiences working in Saudi Arabia and studying in Yemen, but home isn’t there even though I loved having masjids and Muslims all around. I really enjoyed being super involved in the wider community, although I haven’t been involved like I used to be. Nowadays, I spend enough time at the Islamic School I work at to keep me busy! I hope to get back to it, Insha'Allah.
Whether it is going out or staying in, I love exhilarating or new things for trying out. Lately, it has been trying out new recipes thanks to smartphone apps! I’m not too big on following the crowd…it’s not an iPhone I use. I’d say that I’m pretty social when I go out, but I prefer going with someone I know than going myself. I like to joke around, but getting deep into topics that matter from my POV can get me off that track. I’d like to think my occasional hyperfocus over whether Tim Horton’s or McDonalds coffee is healthier for me and the environment is a good thing, but the soft shoulder of a spouse can pull me away!
Whom am I seeking…..faithful, of course. Also, commitment & effort to build a life that runs like an orchestrated but unique rhythm rather than a fixed metal mold. A woman who is ready to embark on a journey toward paradise through a route that is uncharted, with the understanding that getting lost and finding oneself is part of the trip.
