Date someone special from Alberta, Canada. I'm an outgoing person who likes to spend time outside with my kids and friends. I have my kids Mondays and every other weekend. My work is downtown mostly with some travel.
I go to Goodlife fitness on Canyon Meadows but that has faded a bit this summer. Much prefer a bike ride with some hills than sitting inside. Play softball on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
I will talk to anyone to hear their stories. My favorite is the sit at an airport pub and chat people up. At work I like to help people especially new hires that need a hand learning the ropes. I
Live music is great. I'm amazed how many people play instruments at home. I'm not a great piano player but if I see a piano in a hotel lobby, I'm on it. My goal is to add a new song to my list every two months. I'd like to start another instrument.... maybe a Saxophone. I want to expose my kids to music so they can run with it on their own.
Although I'm an engineer my personality is changing with age. I like technical stuff but prefer to keep that to a minimum and focus on the people and the process. I realize I'm not a rule follower.
As for what I'm looking for in my love partner....still figuring that out. Someone that I can talk to and share experiences with. Someone with similar goals and desires to try new things and see new places. Someone who is happy with herself or for now is on the path to happiness. Someone that I can support along bumps in the road...and gives me a boost when needed.

I love being outdoors and try to stay pretty active. In the summer I like to get out on my bike (road and mtb). I love to camp and hike and head out to the mountains when there's a free weekend. Day or weekend trips are a favourite, loading up the car and just getting out of town. In the winter, I try to ski when I can or just get out on the lake for a quick skate (and some great hot chocolate). Although I love being active outside, staying in has its pluses too. It's great to take it easy and enjoy a night in as well. I love to cook (and I love having help) and enjoying a cozy night in on the couch for a movie or favourite show can be great too.
I can be pretty handy though I'm not John Holmes (wait, I think I meant Mike Holmes). I can build a fence or fix the car, but please make me read the instructions if I'm putting something together. Don't let me try it 6 times in error first, sometimes men need a little sensible direction. I can fix a scrape and mend a heart. There is always music playing in the house and I've been known to dance like no one is watching (I really hope no one was watching) and I try not to take myself too seriously.

I'm a very normal person with a few things that make me stand out. I love to read. Everything from adventure novels to science fiction/fantasy, period fiction, political and economic books and even :-) the tabloids. I miss the Weekly World News with Bat Boy! I have to get my news fix every day as well and usually read a paper or two and always skim a few of the news web-sites. I'm into sports and enjoy lifting weights, hockey and golf, primarily, but I'm relatively competent at most sports. I haven't bowled since University, but even that was a lot of fun with a pitcher or two of beer! I prefer wine over beer. Red over white. Two glasses, rather than a bottle. Know any nice vineries? I don't drink much anymore and usually a runaway or two every year keeps me in check. Except maybe in Vegas. I absolutely love Vegas and all of the activity and entertainment that goes along with it. That being said, there's a lot to be said to being 300 miles from civilization camping in the wilderness. I'm the kind of guy that likes to look good in a suit, but prefers wearing blue jeans if I can. Sweat pants are for the gym only. I do fit the pretty typical mold of a "blue collar guy" (although I have a white collar job), not a "metrosexual". I'm told I smell good, though!
I have had a few relationships and it has helped me understand not only who I am, but the type of person I'm looking for. It has to be a girl that is intellectual, cute and athletic. I don't like confrontational conversations, but I definitely find other people's points of view interesting and enjoy discussions--even the hard ones related to things like politics and religion. Don't worry. Those won't be first date topics. Physical attraction is a must but there are many types of girls that I find attractive. I am definitely NOT looking for somebody that runs marathons for a living. If you felt that a single destination marathon/vacation was a part of you, I don't have any issue with that. Maybe I'd even join you! I'm, generally, looking for someone that likes to spend a few nights at home and a few nights out every week. Cooking classes, dance classes, movies, a nice dinner, spending time shopping for a single, perfect object, and going for coffee and conversation all appeal to me very much.

I used to coach soccer as well, but its advanced beyond my capabilities now. I especially enjoy golf, volleyball, skiing and water activities. I'm a Business Development Manager for a new Oilfield Services company so its very busy at the moment getting things up and running. So between work and kids, thats the bulk of my social life.

Although I just turned the big 40, I am told constantly that I look much younger...or is it just that I dont act my age? lol. I guess I just have a baby face. People look at me strange when I tell them I've been in Oil and Gas for 20 years.
