When I think about that "One", it's someone that's like a best friend with a lot of romance. When I look at couples that survive long term they always just enjoy hanging out with one another. I think it's also really important to rediscover people all the time. So much happens in a day to everyone. From ideas of things to see and do, things at work, to things within families. It's always nice to have someone to celebrate big wins or laugh deeply with, and to smooth away some of the bumps along the way too. The constant rediscovery really helps to strengthen and deepen a connection between 2 people.
I think couples have interests in common to start with, they find some new ones together on their adventures. I think they also have hobbies/interests they enjoy the other doesn't. I love to travel, I'm just back from Ireland. It was wonderful. There was lots to see and do, and great photo opportunities. Next up is Bondurant School in AZ something that's been on "the list" for 20 years in July.
I enjoy lots of physical activities, I'm primarily a gym rat, but in the summer I love to inline skate in the river valley, golf is fun but somedays I just enjoy the walk. I've been learning to surf the last 2 years, it's difficult in Edmonton I find so when I'm near water I go, though 4 mornings isn't quite enough to be totally proficient it's still a lot of fun. Besides the first lesson ever the surf school called in the morning going, "can you come any other day. It's very windy and extremely rough out there". I couldn't, and when that's your introduction all the days after just seem easier. I want to get back into downhill skiing in the winter and injury (not ski related) pulled me out of it a few years back and I just haven't gotten back into it. One day I hope to get into Akido as a demonstration I saw was fascinating but I can't make the time commitment work right now in the schedule.
I love to cook and actually know how to make all kinds of things. It's always fun to learn new things in the kitchen too as it saves me from eating the same things over and over. I just wish I could chop things faster. Metro though has a knife skills class so i'm just waiting for the new schedule as I couldn't make the class last time.
I spend some of my time with real estate, it's not my job, but the portfolio is how I plan to fund my retirement. So at times I do lose a weekend to painting or fixing things in properties but for the most part it's quite manageable, and the payoff is a great investment. It's actually not unlike a relationship, they take work but they have huge rewards when you invest in them.
