Meet a soulmate from Alberta, Canada. Well…trying out this web dating thing – not really sure how it will go. So far I’ve discovered I have very few pictures of myself, and those few I do have are not exactly amazing – I would hope the in person experience is better than the photographic online one. I'm also convinced that I'm about the only person on here that doesn't have a professionally retouched photo :P. However, I’m sure my sincerity and wit will translate well online – did I mention that I enjoy sarcasm?
So about me: I’m a professional engineer, but not working in a typical engineering field. I have been divorced several years now, and have dated and lived on my own for some time, but haven’t met that someone special that I share some interests in common with and feel like I can create a solid bond with. I work reasonably regular hours, but sometimes get in to issues that require a bit of weekend or evening time. As far as interests go, most of them are outdoors, and I’m sure I could be convinced to take on another couple of activities if they were not indoors in front of a TV or computer. Right now the activity list includes sailing, motorcycle touring, skiing, travel, guitar and hockey. I don’t expect a partner to play hockey with me (in fact it would probably end badly). I do have two kids in to their early teens, that are part time with me – they are an important part of my life, but not all of my life, and are increasingly independent as they get older.
I’m looking for someone who shares some, but not all of my interests – someone who I can do some things with, but can also get out and do things with her girlfriends or other interests. Someone spontaneous would be great, or at least who can handle my spontaneous desire to book a trip for tomorrow to some foreign country, and enjoy the experience. I like to plan outings, events, picnics, trips, and activities to share with someone, and would hope for the same in return. Mutual respect, admiration, and affection would be the long term goals, but not to rush things – the best relationships are those that grow – it’s taken me a while to figure out how to nurture that, but I’m hopeful. I also appreciate someone who is kind, but can be edgy at times. A bit of conflict can make a relationship better – a bit, not the entire relationship – and I like being challenged.

I'm great with the quiet evenings over talk and good wine, but I can Jekyll and Hyde it up to be a little hysterical too. Live music, a pumped up crowd: awesome. Travel? Definitely. As I joke to my friends and family, I am a computer geek by day, theatre addict by night and I like motor sports. I am a volunteer Technical Director at a local theatre and try to help to ensure the theatre runs as smoothly as possible.
