Meet men and women from Alberta, Canada. Just a few short weeks ago, I was astride a single speed cruiser pedaling (yes, a bike) my way around the fabulous beach communities of San Diego. I was there for a work-related conference, but I went four days early to again try my hand at surfing and spend some time in the California sun.
But as I was riding along the palm tree lined streets or dodging the bikinis and board shorts on the beach pathways, I reflected on how this experience really underscored this amazing (and privileged) life I lead.
My cool and awesome job has afforded me all the cool and awesome things in life: a great house in a great neighbourhood, the comforts of a sometimes crazy – but always happy home with two extraordinary daughters (I call my right to parental bias on this one), and a bunch of vacation time each year! Which is a damn good thing considering that the world – and all its sights, sounds, and mysteries - beckons.
With the risk of sounding like an old codger (excuse me while I put my teeth in), I’ve been a few places in my day – but never Asia. So that’s the next destination on the itinerary. And in my usual fashion, when I make that trip, I anticipate having a culinary adventure too, because for me, good food and beverage is the heart and soul of life.
So, while all this is amazing, it would be equally as amazing – and perhaps even better – sharing these experiences with the right woman. As a lady friend of mine said, “it would be a shame that some wonderful lady out there doesn’t get the pleasure of partnering with you in your adventures.” I couldn’t say it better.

I have an offbeat sense of humor that can seem to be a little on the warped side at times. This no doubt is the result of a misspent youth and a secular job that often makes me wonder if the word normal really has any meaning anymore. As well my humor also tends towards self deprecation so I will often try for the more subtle types of jokes.
I love animals and strive to be the person they seem to think I am. However at present I must admit that I am limited to the company of a very demanding fish. When it comes to pets be it cats, dogs, horses I think the presence of animal friends makes life that much more enjoyable.
I'm not much of a sports fan and I have little interest in so called reality TV. If I'm watching television at all it's usually the occasional movie, cartoons (Futurama, Family guy, The Venture Brothers among others) the occasional TV series(Dr Who, Torchwood, NCIS) or documentaries and news shows. So yes I'm a little bit of a geek.
I also have to confess that I am a dedicated urbanite. I enjoy all the comforts that modern society offers and if given a choice I'll always take a decent hotel or restaurant over roughing it any day of the week. Trust me when I say I've spent enough time in the brush from my military days and survival training to avoid camping if I can for the rest of my life. I do however enjoy a pleasant day hike when ever I am able.
A sometimes reluctant traveler I tend to try and avoid the prepackaged thrills peddled to all at unbelievably low prices. Instead I prefer to use the time in what travel I decide to do to experience the culture or history of a place regardless of where it is. I intend to eventually extensively tour Europe and Asia and hopefully would do so with someone who is looking for more then a blur of historic sites from the windows of a bus or train, but instead opting for a casual stroll through the same. .
Ultimately I am far from perfect. I have my flaws, some of which I'm even aware of. With that in mind please be assured that I am always trying to be a better man and hopefully be someone whose company that perhaps you could come to enjoy, assuming you managed to get to the end of this verbose diatribe.

I am living the dream.. I have a wonderful career and I am dad to two lovely girls (I have generous access to them). My day job involves overseeing a staff of 54 - engineering managers, technologists, trades and administrative staff. I love what I do and can't imagine being in a more rewarding occupation than I enjoy today.
During my non-work / non-parenting time, I host workshops at my place aimed at discussing facets of spirituality and energy healing(www. meetup.com/calgary-spirituality-explorers/). I've had the privilege of meeting some wonderful authors and healers. I am now a Reiki Master and I also host monthly reiki shares. My girls still make fun of me and the 'woo woo' stuff, but they will not hesitate in asking me to give them a Reiki treatment..lol.
I eat healthy and I excercise regularily including group excercises where I am shamed into keeping up with others or be the brunt of their ribbing :-). I have many hobbies and passions - among the most noteworthy is my love for stage acting. I don't know what it is about putting on make-up and tights and belting tunes out - but it gives me a rush! I love drama.. as long as it's on stage. I've done Shakespeare, children's theatre,and musicals. The last production I was in was 'Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves'... guess who was Ali... ;)
I love to travel. I will take off to Banff, Canmore and Lake Louise whenever I can. I love the ocean! I went on a western carribean cruise in 2010 and this January I went to Cancun . Snorkeling , swimming with the dolphins and in the cenote were highlights for me. I just returned from Sedona and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! I managed to visit the Grand Canyon while I was there.. what a magnificent site. I'm heading to Maui in December.. like I said, living the dream!
