1. At the age of 20 on April 9th 1972 I faced an unbearably frightening experience in my life. I was a wild unsettled young man then who was living a very selfish sinful life of sex, drugs and rock and roll. I outwardly denied God but deep inside I knew He was there. I cried to God that day as I faced death. He came to me in a wave of peace and my heart towards Him changed in the twinkling of an eye. I changed my lifestyle for a while but eventually slipped back to the sinful ways I was used to. However, my heart was different and I now understood that there was a God and Jesus is His Son. I felt sorrowful that I was displeasing Him as I kept on in my sinful way to pursue the pleasures of sin.
2. At the age of 24 in 1976 I completed my time and exams and became fully qualified as a Locomotive Engine man with the Canadian National Railway. My life’s career was complete and my future work secure until tragedy struck a year later.
3. In 1977 I had a terrible motorcycle accident that left me with a disability and my secure professional livelihood was lost. I broke my neck which has caused me great difficulty through paralysis. Initially paralyzed completely from my neck down I was given no hope of ever walking, using my hands and arms or of being able to have children of my own. The doctors were wrong as I walk with the aid of a crutch although I can not walk at fast normal walk or long distances. I can walk enough to lead a normal life.
