I like music... mostly rock music but I can tolerate all kinds of music... well everything but Country, unless by Country you mean Johnny Cash. He may be the only Country artist can listen to. I've already listened to enough country music to last a life time as both my parents would force me to listen to JR FM whilst driving me to soccer/baseball/etc as a kid. I am Countried out!
I'm into most sports. I play hockey, though I can't skate all that well. I play golf, though I can't drive the ball straight. I hike, though I can't walk well... I tend to trip over my feet from time to time on rugged hikes. I do hike the grind several times a year, but I've slowed with age. I tend to go on a week long hike most years with a friend who lives in Denver Colorado. Other people have joined us on these hikes but it started with the two of us on the West Coast Trail, and we have been the constants in the hikes year after year... except for the year I went to Africa. That was in 2010. I went to the world cup, did a safari in Tanzania and hiked up Kilimanjaro with some Americans, a couple of Canadians and an Irishman... plus about 20 porters. One of those poor porters had to carry a crapper up the mountain... poor guy.
So I suppose you can also tell, I like to travel. I don't go often but when I do I tend to go big. I've had two big trips. 7 1/2 months in Australia in 2003 and 2 months in Africa back in 2010. I've also been to Cuba.
I'm looking for someone who enjoys the outdoors. Someone who I could sit on a patio with, or play tennis with but also someone who would enjoy going to Comedy Festivals or Bard on the Beach. I've enjoyed Bard on the Beach the couple times I have been. I don't always understand the language of Shakespeare but I generally understand the gist of the story. Maybe I like it because there is an intermission. Intermissions seem so classy!

I don't seem to be meeting the right person so I thought I'd give this a whirl. My interests include sports (hockey, soccer, martial arts, canoeing, kayaking, cross country skiing, and hiking), and any kind of outdoor activity. I am taking lessons in golf and snowboarding. This winter my goal is downhill skiing. I've tried it a few times and think that I will really enjoy it. Sadly, I'm not much of a snowboarder. Really.. I'll try any sport! I love cooking and baking, although I'm a better baker than a cook. I live by myself so I haven't had much opportunity to cook elaborate meals without wasting massive amounts of food. I can always distribute my baked goods at work! It's more difficult to pawn off a casserole than a cheesecake I guess.
My favorite things to do in my spare time are going out with friends, random road trips, travel, watching the Canucks game at the pub, dining out, having friends over for drinks/appies, and volunteering. I've played hockey for 20 years, including ice hockey, ball hockey, roller hockey, coaching hockey, reffing hockey, etc. I can't imagine a life without hockey, so I don't think I'd get along with someone who doesn't at least like to watch!
I'm grateful to have an awesome job that I've worked very hard to get to. I'm exactly where I've always wanted to be. I love going to work every day, and I never know what's going to happen. It's very rewarding and fulfilling and it makes me happy. I also love being away from work and relaxing on my time off, however. I go to school in a part time degree program as well and have 3 classes left to graduate. (Woohoo!) I really love being in school and learning new things. There really hasn't been a point where I haven't been taking classes of some sort. I hope to complete a PhD some day!
I have 1 cat, and I've always wanted a dog but my job can sometimes take me away with very little notice for emergency files. Some day when I have a partner of some sort, I'd love to have a dog. I sometimes foster kittens for a rescue until they can find homes.
I love children and would like to have my own some day. If that's not something you're interested in then I'm afraid we aren't a match. I'll also be honest and say I really really can't handle smoking (sorry).
