I work very hard at my profession as a high school English teacher, I have three wonderful kids whom I have raised on my own for the past 8 years, am blessed with a great extended family, and generally feel very positive about life. I am poignantly aware that life goes by so quickly, and I want to live it fully. I love learning new things and am generally quite curious. I have been divorced for 8 years but really have not dated much because I have always felt that my kids needed my presence. Now that they are 18, 20, and 21, I feel that it is time for me to take some time. I guess I may be considered somewhat old-fashioned as I am not interested in one-night-stands, and I believe that mutual respect is essential in a relationship. I work in a very creative environment as I also direct school plays, and that is a very big part of who I am. I am a very open individual and I am confident that without honest dialogue, a relationship cannot thrive.

I want to meet someone to whom I am attracted in body,mind,and soul. That person will be my best friend, partner in crime, and safe harbour.
I am no Diva and do not expect anyone to cater to my whims; I am independent and self-sufficient but I seek a mutual interdependence. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and I would not have survived as a Single Mom if I were! I do not want to become someone's "project" and I have no desire to change anybody else. I am loyal and faithful but I do need my space occasionally, and of course I would imagine that my ideal partner also likes freedom too. If you do not have a photo posted, I will not respond; it's only fair, wouldn't you agree? My idea of growing older does not include sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair!

I like to be active, and would love to meet someone who would enjoy hitting the gym for a workout, or strength training. I try to get to the gym as often as I can. I really think exercise and healthy living is important, esp as we get older. Now that the warmer weather is here, I'm so looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the great summer weather.
Of course, home is where the heart is! Sometimes special moments can happen while cooking a meal together at home, and sharing a glass of wine , or two! However, I think a man who knows his way around the kitchen, is very sexy!
I have a great life, great friends, a fulfilling job, lots of outside interests,...but I miss being able to share all of that with a special guy. I refuse to let being single stop me from experiencing life, but it doesn't mean I like doing it alone. I want to find someone to be silly with,... serious with,... romantic with! Someone who finds the joy in the little things, ... from grocery shopping and planning what we'll cook for supper, ... but it would be so nice to share the experience with someone special.

I love my job as a teacher, and I'm privileged to help shape the futures of the hundreds of kids that pass through my classes each year. I feel honoured when they come back to visit and let me know how they are doing. I also thoroughly enjoy volunteering at my school, running a breakfast program. I really feel the importance of volunteering whenever you can,... it makes the difference in people's lives that you would never believe possible. The smiles you see on the kid's faces really brightens your day. It keeps you going, no matter how tired you are,..just knowing you are making a difference, no matter how small, in someone's life.
Although I do love to travel, and have been to many places in the world, I do feel that home is also very important. I feel I have lots to offer that special man, in terms of keeping a warm, cosy, and loving home where we would both like to return to at the end of the day.
I've grown to love Virginia, and travel there as often as I can to visit friends who live in Chesapeake. I esp love the beach in Virginia Beach.
As for watching sports,...come summer, I love baseball. However watching in the stands beats tv anyday!
