I just finished a four year assignment in Spain for my work, and I've just moved to Canada to start a new assignment. It's hard to describe exactly what I do (maybe I can tell you about it sometime?) but I love my work - it's interesting, challenging, rewarding, and gives me the opportunity to work with great people and do amazing things.
In my free time I love going to the movies, reading (I'm on a sci-fi kick right now), going out with friends, cooking. For the last year or so I have been living in remote stretches of Canadian wilderness, working to help get people to medical facilities from remote settlements. While I enjoyed the challenges and rewards there, I have recently moved to the Halifax area for a new job and to test out the East Coast lifestyle (of which I heard many great things).
I am fortunate enough to come from a great family background, but sometimes whatever Powers That Be like to have a little fun with me. For example, I can tell you from personal experience that getting into a fight with a Canadian Goose is a tough proposition. They are one of the nastiest critters on this Earth, pretty much the devil incarnate, in fact. Not only do they have an impressive wing span and long neck, they don't give up … ever. I can truthfully say that I valiantly fought off a goose and (mostly) won! A bonus was that most of my dignity came out of it more or less intact.
When I'm not off fighting crazy satan-birds, I enjoy getting outdoors (running/jogging, canoeing, baseball, skating, etc) and always interested in trying new things (would love to go snowboarding). I also like to relax in a pub and chat with friends with some live music playing or a hockey game going in the background. And of course, when the mood fits nothing is better than watching a good flick, or sitting down with a book.

like many, i usually find myself drawing a blank when it comes to writing up a profile "about me". how do you summarize yourself in a paragraph or two for someone else to read?
so, here are some things about me that i think are worth mentioning:
- i keep active, running 8km most nights of the week and spending time with friends on the weekends.
- i'm an active pool (billiards) player, i usually play in a few leagues a year and have been to Vegas annually for the last couple of years to play.
- i really enjoy making people laugh, especially when getting to know someone new.
- i tend to have a rather dry, sarcastic sense of humor, sometimes bordering on deadpan.
- music is a huge part of my life, i listen to and play a wide range of stuff- pop, metal, rock, dance/rap to name a few, and i love rocking out while jamming (playing guitar) just as much as being on the dance floor in a club.
- i like my down time as well, i don't watch much tv other than Family Guy and the odd Frasier or Simpsons episode and i loosely watch hockey and basketball, the tv serves as background noise a lot. i'm also a fan of sleeping in on the weekends when possible.
- i enjoy a good movie, whether at home or at the theater.. i think a date night with a movie at home is a great idea when you feel like keeping it simple.
- i'm a very loyal, loving, caring and affectionate person who enjoys doing all of those things (big and small) that make the person i'm with feel special and loved.
