Although I was born and raised over seas, I very much consider myself a Canadian, despite my Dutch passport. I care for this country and its environment and love the natural beauty, lakes and wildlife. I lived up in “God’s country” for 36 years. Me and my children (4 of them) lived in harmony with our surroundings and part of that meant that we all donated our blood to the huge insect population to keep the ecco system in balance. Even the big fundraiser we had organized to make money for the somewhat struggling art gallery was called the Blackfly car rally, in hind sight perhaps not the most attractive name for a fun event. Art was/is my thing, I DO think/feel with that side of my brain, have an eye for beauty and detail, plus a sensitive, loyal and caring personality, and not to forget an inquisitive mind that draws me to books about art, nutrition, the soul, energy medicine, relationships and yoga and whatever else I need to explore at the time.
I care about what I eat and have started this adventure of growing some of my own food (all in pots) what I share with a certain resentment with the squirrels and the slugs. Ghandi said that all of life is interconnected and I agree, (except not in a cell phone or virtual kind of way). I do not believe in killing and violence, or nasty confrontations, but seek those that live a balanced life of integrity, respect and honesty. People who know how to accept and celebrate each others differences.
