Date a man from Canada. I've recently moved back from the San Francisco area, where I lived for 14 years. I've traveled extensively through most of the west, including most of California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Oregon. Some of my favorite places were the Mountains, deserts and coast line of California. I love to camp, backpack and hike through all of these regions. My favorite spots would probably be Yosemite, Benton Hot Springs, and Joshua Tree. I've climbed a couple of mountains in the area including Mount Shasta and White Mountain, both over 14,000 ft.
For the last 14 years I've been a Software Engineer for a multimedia company, mainly working out of my home.
I have three great kids, 21, 23, and 25, all going to the University of Western Ontario, where I to graduated from as well. We have a very close and open relationship, able to talk about almost anything, which some people can find a bit shocking at times.
My current projects are collaborations with my children to write a series of children's books, to help teach young children how about logical fallacies, and a screen play dealing with the horrors of war from the perspective of multiple different cultures.
I love to work in the dirt, enjoying building vegetable and flower gardens, although I must say, I enjoy the building part more than the subsequent maintenance. I've also restored an old 1904 Victorian house, which included rewiring, insulated, sheet-rocking, plumbing, etc.
On the artistic side, I have helped build two art cars, (you may have to look that up since they are not very popular in Canada), one covered in CD's cut into quarters to create scales, which made it look like a fish. The second covered in tumbled glass, in a southwest motif, which even included cutting out the roof and adding in a sky dome. I've added pictures of them to my profile.
I love to cook, with my specialties being Indian food, and baking bread. I make a mean Ciabatta, Sour Dough, and love to make Focaccias. I especially love to cook for large groups of people. At least once a week I cook dinner with the kids, which is especially fun, since my daughters boyfriend is a Chef and he has taught me a lot. We had an especially fun time make turducken. You'll just have to look that up for yourself.
On the intellectual side, I love to read, (mainly science fiction and fantasy), and tend to be somewhat cerebral in nature. I have not owned a television/idiot box in 15 years, although I do subscribe to Netflix since I enjoy movies. I really don't care to watch sports since there are many more interesting things to do in the world around us. Philosophy is one of my current passions, especially the when dealing with personal relationships and government institutions. This would take a long discussion.
Personality wise, I have a good sense of humor, and can be a bit crazy at times, especially around Halloween, which is my favorite holiday. To be honest though, I do tend to be a somewhat private person, and dislike very large, noisy crowds, where I find it hard to concentrate with the huge number of conversations buzzing around. I, prefer smaller groups and one on one conversations. I tend not to be to materialistic since I find that just holds you back from doing more interesting things in life. I'd like to just take things slow and prefer, just company, to talk, eat, and hike with. If you're looking for someone to watch the idiot box with, I'm probably not your guy.
