I am admittedly a 'workaholic' - in the fact that i love my career and I am lucky enough to be self employed so that I can arrange my work time as needed. I do work hard ... but then again I go by the motto that " if you work hard, you deserve to play hard as well." My profession is in the paramedical healthcare field and I work primarily with children with physical disabilities. I don't think of it as work but as another way to have fun!!!!
In my spare time, I have lots of activities, hobbies and interests.. the main one now is golf. I started golfing about 13 years ago and now that is something that i really enjoy doing... playing and practising . Just love the game.. especially hitting a long drive...even when it goes into the trees.. yeeks... ..I even take indoor golf lessons in the winter. Other interests include cooking and entertaining friends, gardening in the summer months, spending time with friends over drinks and dinner, reading a good book and not wanting to put it down, travelling whether it be a winter golf getaway or going to a different part of the world to explore. I'm off to Italy soon to a cooking school in Tuscany and a visit to the Amalfi coast... I also enjoy staying physically fit and working out whether with a trainer or at my small home gym that i have set up to use. I always state that you have to stay healthy in order to continue to enjoy all that life has to offer.
Hopefully this will give a small insight into who I am and how I live. I feel the most important thing is to laugh and have fun and to enjoy life to the fullest.

. Humour! Where would we be without it? I like to think that I find it everyday in some form or another. Most of the people who know me say that I make them laugh, and sometimes there is no greater joy in the world than that. I find a lot of humour everyday in my work as a special education teacher. Sometimes I wish there was a camera filming my conversations with students, so funny and so poignant at the same time. I could almost have my own show (Watch out, Mr. D)! I guess you could say that teaching is a passion for me and I can honestly say that every day brings new challenges, new laughs and new drama-never a dull moment.
So much more to life than work though. I am the first to recognize that! I absolutely love my time off and I make full use of the freedom and opportunity it gives me. Whether it is gardening and cooking at home, going out on the town with friends or travelling abroad, I so appreciate the time I have to enjoy the pleasureable things in life. The other thing that I have grown to appreciate is good health and fitness. I am no vegetarian/organic freak-a-zoid (not that there is anything wrong with that), but I do like to eat well and exercise moderately. I'd like to think that the person I date would feel more or less the same way-it just says so much about how you feel about yourself and how you want to live your life.
I am most proud of having raised my daughter to be a wonderful young adult. She is finished university now and looking for her career path. Still young enough to need her mom from time to time, but old enough to really live her life on her own. Where did the time go?
Well, enough about me for now. What would my ideal match be like? I don't really want to describe that person too narrowly to be honest. I would like to leave a bit up to the unexpected and the imperfection that a great match can be made of. The colour of your eyes and the job you have probably won't make it or break it with me, it is more the indefinable qualities that need room to breathe and grow that interest me (Oh boy, now I sound really earthy-I'm not really!) Yes, of course, I would like to meet someone who is honest, attractive, self-assured and intelligent. Who wouldn't, right? Do I really need to make a list? You know who you are already, I can tell.
