I'm an independent retired special education teacher who works occasional contracts for a government program called Jackfish. I travel and live either nearby or on the reserves of First Nation people where I deliver an educational Basic Literacy Skills program. I value this opportunity because it allows me to use my teaching skills effectively....there is nothing more rewarding than knowing that u are making a difference. This opportunity is also great in the sense that I work when I choose, and I am able to experience a lifestyle different than my own; however, these environments coincide with my love of the outdoors.
I'm not much of a movie goer or TV watcher as I am extremely energetic and I need to remain active. I am both a spectator and participant for sporting events. As well, I go to the gym, train for running events, cycle, and swim. I also enjoy travelling, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, camping, landscaping, dog caring, reading, and knitting. I especially value the extreme fun times with my family and friends. It is in my life destination to live in a different country, for half years, for the remainder of my existence.
I believe that I can fit into most social settings; however, my preference is unpretentious non judgmental environments. Although I understand that money is a necessity for the things I enjoy and participate with, I also understand that true happiness needs to be internally motivated in order to be sustained. I am very much my own person who expects respect and honesty from a partner. Additionally, I am a determined person whose disposition compliments an individual who values me for who I am and not for who one wants me to be...I see personal change as facilitating one's self-growth and not merely as a relationship convenience. It is somewhat challenging to really know, understand, and perhaps appreciate me, but when trust has been established I am a very loyal, caring, and compassionate individual. I have adopted a direct and honest approach, and I most certainly understand it is not for everyone...what I value in myself is what I value in others.

I dance to the beat of a different drum (my own)!I love dinner theater, romantic movies, exploring new places and being out-doors (in warm weather). On cold days I like to curl up by a warm fire with pleasant company (or a good book). Sitting by the water, meandering through old growth forests or working in my flower garden helps me to restore balance to an otherwise hectic life. I detest TV sports, complainers, and abrasive people and/or cartoons, and racial jokes (unless they are about yourself). I like being active but really hate regimented exercises!So far, my own company has been the most appreciative and enduring! BUT...
