I like reading novels, magazines, etc; I just finished We Need to Talk about Kevin and currently working through Wheat Belly. Clever and politically incorrect stuff makes me laugh, I can't help it :) - lately Little Britian reruns are cracking me up! I watch everything from George Strombolopolous, to Big Bang Theory, to Dragon's Den, to reruns of Seinfeld.
For music, I'm pretty open and diverse - although not much into rap or metal - been listening to Sam Roberts, Iron and Wine, Annie Lennox, The Decemberists, the Cranberries, etc lately. I like live performances of different sorts, including music, dance, theatre, etc, but at my core I'm a homebody and pretty comfortable in my own company. I'm the type who has a circle of close friends instead of a large group of acquaintances. My family is important to me, and they're a supportive, accepting bunch. I can be reserved and quiet sometimes. I can also talk your ear off :) .. I like to cook and I'm pretty good at it. I have a good job and don't expect to depend on a partner financially - nor do I expect you to.
About you:
Right now, I just want to date and meet new people, see who's out there. However, the right guy for me in the long run is a man who knows himself and has some goals for the future, whatever they may be, that somewhat mesh with mine. I don't need someone that shares my views on everything, but I think it helps if the basic worldviews are somewhat similar.
I tend to swing more to the left politically - but I have a healthy dose of materialism to me LOL. If you're a Harper fan, we will have to agree to disagree and move on :).
I feel if you have children, they should be your top priority, over relationships, etc.
I think we should be good to each other and good to our planet, although it pretty much seems to be too late on the planet thing, so I find myself throwing things in the garbage I shouldn't be LOL.
I try to avoid unnecessary drama - I believe in a collaborative approach to conflict - if you're unable to talk things out somewhat calmly, or need to be right all the time, we're probably going to have a difficult time. Passion can be found elsewhere in the relationship :)

Since my life has been enrichened by the kindness and generosity of people who felt it important to contribute to the public good, I can't refuse to do the same. Time for those activities comes and goes but I try to make sure that I'm always involved with some form of service project.
