I don't value rigidity much because everything is changing all of the time. I also don't value facts or specifics as much as how they are used or understood; as an aside, my memory is rather cribbled by this disinterest. Further, it isn't terribly important that my future significant other see eye to eye with me; what is important is that I find a person with an open mind whom can take pleasure in an idea or observation in and of itself, apart from specific circumstances or elements.
Iterests, hobbies, ambitions, religions, ideals, and tendancies are all just a part of life and our constant evolution as people, yet they are the first thing discussed in the identification of self. Well, perhaps two people as they are at the moment should 'match' in some way, and perhaps this is great if you're looking for a short term relationship that will only benefit you in the short term. However, I want someone whom I can grow with over the long term. And for that, I'm looking deeper than interests, hobbies, and the like. I'm looking for limits: what is considered best, what is considered worst, and what may exist in between. In short, how open minded can a person be?
Perhaps I am not even as open minded as I would like to think that I am, but I beleive that a relationship ought to bring out the best in a person. I want to create conditions for two open minded people to explore horizons beyond their conceived limits, so that life may be lived to its fullest, and so that the many destinations arrived at throughout the journey may be enjoyed and appreciated for what they are.
If you do your best to respect me for the person I am today, I will do my best to respect you for the person you are. These differences and similarities may be discussed in a more paletable location, perhaps over coffee, or a meal, or in a scenic locale. There should be music. Failure or success, we have only experiments and limits to test.
