Meet a man from Windsor, Canada. First of all, I am not really sure how long I am going to be here. I just had surgery on my knee and will be laid up for a week or so. Not really a computer type of person when I can walk and am not on pain killers. If it says I have not been on in a month, I probably will not return. Really not a fan of internet dating but willing to give it a shot.
Family is my priority right now. I have two well rounded children that I am trying to guide through life. I am trying to find a relationship that is positive for both myself and them.
Grew up in the rough part of Detroit, married a Canadian woman I went to school with and moved to Windsor. My wife passed two years ago, but I am still here. I may move back to the US someday, but it will be after my kids are grown. I find the culture over there is toxic to young black men and I don't want my children growing up around it.
Not really sure what I want in a woman. Last time I dated I was a foolish 20 something. I guess the main thing I am looking for is a family oriented woman with a good heart. I'm not going to kid around: I'm exceptionally intelligent, articulate, nerdy, low-key, at my best one-on-one or in small groups, and not terribly handy around the house (but more than willing to carry my weight with housework). Less naturally social than many, I'm someone who needs a fair amount of space and time to myself to recharge my batteries and avoid spitting and scratching. More than one first date that I thought went well ended with me being told I was just too much of a 'brainiac' for her, so fair warning: I might be a little more "challenging" for some people to see themselves with than more run-of-the-mill guys. But there's one thing I know: when there's real chemistry, anything becomes possible. My ideal partner doesn't need her man to be the type who likes to make some barbecue before flipping on the game, and plays hockey on the weekends -- that's not me. Here's what I like to do: read fiction and non-fiction (science fiction is a favourite for relaxation, or classics like Dumas, and I was pushing Game of Thrones on people before it was a hit TV show -- non-fiction is for when I want something more serious); keep up with politics and current events; use computers (yes, I am a video gamer); I like hiking in the woods and in scenic areas; and I am dying to meet someone whose favourite part of seeing a movie is talking about it afterward! I've dabbled in local theater, on both sides of the stage, and I'm a regular donor to the Green Party. When it comes to music I have wide-ranging tastes, and I'm always grateful to encounter something new and unexpected. I basically dropped out of pop music two decades ago, and one reason I've never gone back is because of the plague of melisma (see any episode of American Idol). I've never cared for rap or country, either, though I make an exception for intelligent country-ish bands like Blue Rodeo. Finally, I am not a religious person. That doesn't mean I can't get along famously with someone who takes their religion seriously, provided they respect other people's preferences. If you are someone who thinks you're doing others a favour by promoting your religion without being asked, we are not likely to get along.
Finally, a couple things about my intentions on this site. First, if you have kids, not only is it cool that they come first, I would be kinda skeeved out if they didn't. Second, I am UTTERLY monogamous and loyal to the person I'm with, and in return I trust you're secure enough to accept my word on that.
