I am originally from Ottawa and moved to Toronto in 2006 for work. And to be honest I went through a separation in April 2011. I am living on my own and no not with my parents in their basement. Yes, I am an "old-soul" yet young - and romantic - at heart! A movie is great but wouldn't be my first choice for a first date as it'd be a shame to waste a couple of hours staring at a screen when we could be chatting and getting better acquainted with each other.

Now, how best to describe me? I've been told I have a big heart, a laid-back attitude and a gentle soul but don't let that foul you as I can be quite competitive and focused at times ... I guess balanced would be the best term. When I am not out cycling, I enjoy listen to music - R&B, soul, jazz, classical/instrumentals - while I cook and research my next travel destination (though it has been a while since I last took a trip).

. I hope I am safe to assume that the fact that we are on this website means that we are looking for that special someone or a soul mate in almost every possible places. Are we looking too hard in the wrong places? Is our expectation somewhat unrealistic? Or is it from the lack of self-understanding? I find that it is important to understand myself or ourselves in order to be able to understand the surroundings better and to be able to react better to all the stimuli from the surroundings. I don't think I know myself very well despite countless hours and days and years I have spent in trying to understand myself. Is this a forbidden journey where there is no end or one that just has a very very long way to be covered? Is it possible to understand oneself to the fullest and completely? Many philosophers will agree that nobody clearly understands the meaning of life. Should we continue to answer the meaning of life and think of the answer as deep and complicated as possible? Or do we just think of our life as simple as possible and have a very simple goal in life and make our own meaning and purpose in life? Which is right and which way is more realistic? What is better: having the right view or having a realistic view? The sense of community that we all long to belong to: to be acknowledged, loved, cared, and touched by others (seemingly); seems to be somewhat driven by insatiable and unstable state of our mind.
I bring all these points so that we all think about these things before jumping into a relationship so we all can have a relationship built on a solid foundation. Hopefully this way, we shall remain happy and be able to fully appreciate the lifelong partner that we tried so hard to find...and hopefully have found...
