In the latter part of my life, I was introduced to the feeling side of my existence. I had been locked into the factual/logical/serial (left) portion of my brain. I consider this change a big accomplishment.
In the past, I ran away from emotions and so missed a huge portion of our living as human beings. This change opened for me the gate of more compassion for others.
I am deeply grateful for having the basic needs of life met--shelter, food, friends--enough resources for a comfortable & secure life.
When I was young, there were so many material things I wanted, but didn't have the resources for. Now that I have the resources, I don't want stuff any more.
It's a puzzle. Actually, I like it better this way. I find no lasting happiness in material possessions--I am not materialistic; if we're not careful, possessions can possess us!
Relationship is the most important thing to me. It deserves all the energy and attention I can give to it. (I believe that spirituality may well exist in the fabric of our relationships.)
I treasure the balance, diversity, and completeness a close partner can bring to my life.
I think that both compatibility and tolerance are at the top of my "must have's" relationship list.
Enough compatibility so we don't have to spend too much "emotional currency" on bridging large personal divides. Tolerance is needed to bridge those incompatibilities--yes, there will be many and love alone is not enough to span them successfully. We vitally need communication skills to allow all this happen.
Statistically, the best relationship outcomes occur with people who have the most similar backgrounds. Opposites may attract but similarities sustain relationships.

I think we need to make the right kind of "space"--physical, emotional, mental--for a partner. I seek balance in a close relationship between intimacy and the need for personal space. Use of “emotional intelligence” is vital here.
