Kindergarten: Almost "failed". Couldn't speak the language. They were not going to move me to grade 1! Now there's a 1st;
Started piano at age 6, achieved grade 10, including gold medal at Kiwanis Festival; Love Music and singing. Karaoke is a blast!
Received high school Honour letter award - only 4 recipients in the graduating class;
Half dozen or more trophies for athletics (basketball and track). City champs in basketball, ranked 5th nationally;
Fired from my first 3 jobs!
University educated including Masters degree. Worked part time job as tutor. Paid for my own education; In "oil shock" of mid 70's, loaned parents money to help put younger siblings through school;
After School, everyone doing the "Let's go Europe" thing. I'm doing the "Let's go California" thing! Packed a sports car, and travel 13k miles around the CanUS West coast. Unbelievable!
Lifelong entrepreneur: Never employed by a "company". Careers in consulting (80's), bottled water (90's), internet (00's). Now onto something new: The life-long dream!
2 wonderful chidren, Boy (13) and girl (11). I'm a tough dad, but fair and most importantly, a comitted 24/7 dad. My ultmate achievement, bar none;
Coached little league baseball and hockey; Volunteer for all of my children's school trips;
Neighbourhood moms phone me for recipesl They tell me their kids won't eat at home, but at my place!
I've "had it all", and "lost it all". Experienced higher highs than most people ever will, and scraped my way from the bottom of the troughs, lower than most will ever experience. If Life is a journey, then my stories will be never-ending tales to my cjildren and grand-kids! (If and when that happens);
I believe everything happens for a reason. Keep avoiding mistakes, and exploit the positives. Don't know where that will take me, but I'm banking on new highs!
Like I tell my children: The glass is "always" half full; "NO" does not compute; There is "always" a solution; Don't make excuses, just take responsibility for your actions!
Well travelled, eclectic taste in music and movies. Dry sense of humour. Dogamtic work ethic. Work hard, play hard comes to mind. Although, I did get married late in life, and have younger children, so not quite an empy nester, and not as active as I used to be.
Cutsie, pat me on the back stuff aside, let's get down to some bitter realities ...Life is no "bowl of cherries". Never had a silver spoon, and what I achieved, didn't come easy. Nothing meaningful and worth accomplishing ever comes easy. I accept all these challenges and take nothing for granted. I set a "high bar" for myself, and anyone that wants to be associated with me, male and female friends alike.. Everybody in my equation, has to tow the line. Resting on laurels is a decided negative! I don't ask anyone to treat me any better than I treat them. And that's a vise-versa thing as well.
OK, so now the GOOD, BAD and UGLY is out of the way. Now you know "something" meaningful about me. I'm a love it or hate it kinda personality. Will be interesting to see which women believe the cream always rises to the TOP!
Last, as U may be able to deduce, I'm somewhat passionate (intense) about many things. Ideal partner is probably leaning towards a Type "B" personality. Very patient. Go with the "flow" type of person. I can be all fired up talking about corrupt politicians, and 5 min's later, have my eyes welling up watching the "blindside". I wear my emotons on my sleeve, and they are always appropriate for the situation I'm in.
