Date a man from Alta Lake, Canada. I'm no longer working so my interests define me on the Outside. I ski, alpine & skate, snowshoe, & I'm just getting into ski touring. I like to hike, camp as part of an outdoor adventure, paddle done the Broken Is,Bowron Lk, ride my mtn bike XC, Im a serious road cyclist- 2 Septs ago, I used my road bike to cycle 820km with 4km climb in 6 days with friends. I was Not the strongest. Fall/10 I was in Africa back packing to see the Mtn Gorillas; chimpanzees; the animals on the Serengeti & in the Nogorongoro Crater; climbed Mt Kili the less traveled route & descended into the crater to see the ever diminishing glaciers & the sputtering ash sulphur pits; lemurs of Madagascar; snorkelling in Zanzibar; spice market in Mombassa; Kenya for the Rhinos, & 2 weeks in Egypt to see the usual & dive in the Red Sea. at the end I was Tired, but oh so Satisfied.
March/11 I spent a month back packing through Indonesia. To Borneo to see the Orangutans; temple & volcanoes in Central & Eastern Java, Bali for the temples, traditional dancing, & beer on the beach; traveling through Flores & ending up seeing the Komodo Dragons & diving off the Komodo & Rinca Is; then some well deserve beaching, diving & chill'n on Gilli Meno Is. There is more to me than this, but I'll save that for when we meet.
My goal is to find a woman who wants to share this active lifestyle, love the outdoors & all it has to offer, enjoys the theatre, intelligent conversation, bbqs & dinner parties, cuddling & kissing, hot tubs & fires.& in turn introduce & expose me to new activities, & new ideas.
But this only partially defines me. Inside I'm warm & passionate, kind & courteous, refined-bohemian; Quiet & Boisterous; I love my adult children who have played & continue to play an enormous part in my life; Intelligent & Curious, & mature & boyish; I Love Live Theatre; intelligent conversation. I should add that I was Born in 1950.
I've noted that many of the responses I've received have mentioned that my retirement means I'm twiddling my thumbs in the meantime & that I'd insist on all of their time. Total nonsense. I'm excellent @ self entertainment- I've had years of practice. I was a lawyer for over 20 years, & a 1/2 time single Dad. I know the pressures of work & FAMILY.
I should add that I was Born in 1950.
I'm Not into endless emails, or IM'ng etc. We should be talking on the phone fairly soon & meeting shortly after that. We are both comfortable & confident in ourselves. Perhaps our in person meeting was not as much as we hoped. We're adults, we can courteously admit that & wish each other well.

Meet a girl from British Columbia, Canada. So, I am sitting here tonight in my apartment trying to reel you in somehow, as I'm sure most of who attempted this section could relate to. A lot of us are here simply because we are looking for our souls counterpart in another person which there is something to be said about it. And I actually am looking forward to this.
I like to consider myself to be a very adventurous person. I've been living in Whistler B.C for the past year to let out some steam after finishing university and working all the time. And this place is absolutely phenomenal. However, I will hopefully be moving back to my hometown in November.
I like to think I am very intelligent (my Mom and Dad think so) so three people can't be wrong simultaneously, right? I value sense of humour over a lot of things. Chances are if you can make me laugh, we have an awesome start at a friendship or more. I have a very quirky sense of humour, so bare with me. I believe that you should be able to laugh at yourself in order to appreciate yourself, which I do a lot of.
I love helping people, it's an addiction. Not for recognition but I'm a sucker for seeing people happy. I try to volunteer a lot of my time especially because I am able.
I love sports and being active. I just like to keep busy but on the other side of that, I do relax. Either watching movies and cuddling up or going for a long walk with an awesome conversation and sometimes no conversation at all.
My family life is really important to me and hope that it is for you too. I have an older brother and he's pretty awesome, he's not crazy protective so no need to worry in that department. He has a wonderful daughter who I am absolutely in love with and am very lucky she's in my life. I am very close with my parents and really respect them for everything they've done for me over my life. I'm lucky enough to still have my grandparents who are incredible people.I don't even consider my close friends, just friends. They are extended family and call me out when I need it sometimes and I respect that quality in a person and hope to find it in a partner.
I'm not into the whole "bad boy" thing. I think it's quite overrated. I love a guy who is sweet and caring, but still has a back bone. I love guys who are close with their parents and siblings because to me it's what's important in life. Like I said before, if you can make me laugh (and believe me, it doesn't take much) it could be a start to a wonderful friendship with potential.
A lot of people are shallow when it comes to looks, in this area I am open minded. I have been on the other end of the weight battle and understand what some people go through. However, I value others who are always looking to better themselves in different ways. If you are 400lbs and are content, it's more than just being fine with it that would turn me away. I value self esteem and to not want to be healthy shows me that you do not value yourself and it is a huge turn off. I don't expect rippling muscles or a model by any means. but a guy who takes care of himself is sexy.
What else I find amazing is when a guy can be spontaneous, doesn't mean he has to be all of the time, but I love surprises and if a guy can keep me on my toes, I really appreciate that. I also find it awesome if he's a good conversationalist, I love to talk about everything ranging from quantum physics to the hockey game, so trust me, there is a huge spectrum.
I would also like a guy who's interested in travelling, as it is a huge passion of mine.

I am an Australian Canadian having come to Whistler over 20 years ago and am staying a lifetime. I love the lifestyle that Whistler has to offer and am learning to participate in everything that Whistler has. I spent the first 15 years here working too hard, helping to raise 2 boys (now 12 and 8), focused on surviving the rat race rather than enjoying. I now work hard when I have to, am active everyday, enjoy the social and fun side of our lives.
I have learnt that I exercise better when I have a goal to work towards. Like to have a glass of wine every day and as I mentioned, laugh out loud from the belly whenever I can. I like to work in my office as I enjoy the social interaction but I don't need to... I'm mobile. I set my own schedule and hope to travel more to Europe soon. I am dying for the sun and hope to get a summer vacation this year.
I like to dress up to go out, but am also comfortable just chilling out. I like to hang out with friends with appies and wine as well as eat at my favorite Whistler Restaurant - Rim Rock Cafe. I was married and in a relationship that wasn't that great for 15 years and now want to explore, expand and enjoy everything. I have my kids a week on and a week off so am looking for someone that has kids or wants to dive in and enjoy all the fun we have - and we really have fun together. We ski regularly, bike (I took up road biking last year), hike, travel, swim, ziptrek, monkido, summer dog sled, hummer rides, spend weekends in Vancouver... and more! You and I will also have a ton of fun on the week's that I am "single' ie without kids filling in as much as we can in our day.
If you have had long relationships that didn't work out, that's ok with me. If you don't know how to maintain a long relationship, then I am cautious. If you have children or been in a long relationship where they were a part of your life - that's great. If you haven't, you will have to express how well rounded you are without them. I hope that you have a career that is stimulating and provides you with enough to have a carefree lifestyle. Entrepreneurship is wonderful, as is education (I am an SFU grad), but intellectual stimulation is a must.
