One of the things I enjoy is travelling. I've been to Morocco, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Italy to name a few places. I am just as comfortable visiting museums, art galleries, as historical sites like Rome's Coliseum. My interests are many and include keeping fit and healthy. Staying connected and having great relationships and networks with family and friends is important. I'm smart, creative and silly, maybe a bit quirky - but in a good way! Active, but not a great athlete. I like reading and watching films but I also have a need to do things, to create, and that can be anything from cooking a good meal for friends or family, to completing a small project around the house or cottage, to gardening, or sewing (I know that sounds old-fashioned... but I sew really cool things with hip fabric, so there!). I also love the outdoors, not in the "I've got all the latest high-tech gear from Mountain Equipment co-op" sort of way, but in a more basic way, like walking in the woods with a regular pair of running shoes, just enjoying the fresh air, birdsongs and colours; camping with basic gear, and canoeing in an old Sportspal canoe at the cottage.
My son is with me half the time, and he is the best thing in my life. We laugh a lot together. We discovered the fisheye setting on my camera recently. You know, the setting that distorts everything? We were sitting in a restaurant and started taking pictures of each other. We laughed until we cried. Let's just say I won't post any pictures he took of me that day!
At home the radio is usually on, especially on weekdays. I switch from French to English CBC depending on what they're talking about. If the radio is not on, there is usually music of all kinds. I've become a bit of an iTunes junkie.
I enjoy walking and watching the world around me. It's incredible how many beautiful and interesting things one can see if one just looks around - of course you also have to watch where you're going - I've bumped into a few trees and telephone poles and that hurts.
Although I'm a responsible parent and have a steady job, I hate routine, and I live in the moment, whether it's everyday life, like noticing the change in seasons on my way to work, or the special moments that will never come again.
I love road trips to anywhere, especially to the ocean, and the sense of anticipation when you're getting closer and you start to smell the salty air.
I don't know know what I like best, the city or the country. I love the city, my "mixed neighbourhood" and being able to walk to work downtown. But I also love the cottage, and when I'm there, I can't think of a better place on earth. And I don't want to leave. The last days of summer at the cottage before going back to the city always feel like a long Sunday.
I'm not in a big hurry to find my one true love. I think I want to take it slowly, meet people and see what this online dating is about. Spiritual goals: I have been studying and practicing meditation and yoga for over 15 years. It is a key part of who I have become and it shows in everything I do. That means I am a mostly vegetarian (I do eat some fish), and I love my man to accompany me in the eating department. You do not have to be solely veg., or a longtime meditator, but healthy diet and some interest in spiritual/healthy lifestyle are important. The spiritual aspect of relationship shows in the desire to create a consistent opportunity for meaningful connection as a couple, ideally doing some sort of practice together.
A knowing that we really are all interconnected and that what goes on within me, affects you (and everyone else within the vicinity), and vice versa.
Key pieces: such as mutual commitment and respect, integrity, consistent communication, acceptance of one another, good listening skills, a general want to look out for and care for one another, community to support the relationship, compromise on both parts when needed, a positive outlook, a desire to have fun, create, and share uplifting experiences together.
