I have retired from all of the sectors of Emergency Services and as such have had a vast array of interactions with people in the past. I have become an optomist although that was not my style earlier in life.
I have moved past personal dissapointments in life and am looking for an honest and open person that I can build a future friendship and / or relationship with. You will notice that I have classed myself as "separated". I am just being totally truthful as I have been separated now for over 12 years and the "Divorce" part has been a legal nightmare in getting one.
I have found that too many people place excessive emphasis on what we see on the "outside" of others and never truly get to know the person "inside". I want to be involved with a person who is true to the core and doesn't put forth a false front. I would treasure a partner to enjoy my life with; discuss the trials, excitements and successes of the day, be active and have fun with, and of course love and be loved truly.
I have maintained a healthy lifestyle and am one of those lucky people that doesn't need to watch my weight. I currently weigh 17 lbs. more than I did in high school and was almost "skinny" then. I am working back towards a fully active lifestyle as I had to curtail strenuous activity for the last 6 or 7 years but I would class myself as 80 % physically fit compared to most 40 yr old men. (I am just trying to be real, not bragging).
I beleive I am a very open, understanding, supportive and fiercely loyal person. I also beleive that one has to earn others respect, trust, friendship and loyalty. It all comes with understanding, knowing and accepting a person for who they really are.
I hope I don't seem to be overstating myself but I think it important to be frank and forthcoming when representing oneself in a forum such as this.
I am relatively new to this site and as yet haven't actually joined so I will not be able to reply until I decide if joining fits what I want to achieve. Things that I can't live without include: love, joy, peace, intimacy, family, and friends. I love spending time in nature: mountains, rivers, lakes, oceanside hotels/cottages, hiking, snowshoeing, camping, walking, sunsets, sunrise, thunderstorms. Waterton and the upper Oldman river area are two of my favorite places. I enjoy travels, especially by ship, and some of my favorite cities and places are Kyoto, Cairo, Athens, Crete, London, India, Bali, Kauai, Fiji, Trinidad, San Diego area, Nelson - Kaslo area and Vancouver. I believe a description of me would include: confident, energetic, passionate, loving, compassionate, kind, eternal optimist, open minded, affectionate, wry sense of humor, responsible, dependable, loves to touch and be touched, not into materialism or consumerism, strong social conscience, political activist, love animals (have cats), compassionate communication, reincarnation, karma, extrovert-introvert, candledom, strong financial skills, pragmatic idealist, interested in the truth wherever it leads, loyal and grateful. I enjoy various forms of meditation. Love to dance including free expression dance. I have eaten a vegetarian diet for 17 years, and am very health conscious, and plan on living to 100 with quality. Ethnic foods are my favorite, especially Thai, East Indian, Ethiopian, Japanese and Mexican.
My heroes include; Christ, Buddha, Gandhi, Noam Chomski, William Wilberforce, John Muir, Paramahansa Yogananda & Nelson Mandella.
Favorite movies include: Mindwalk, Brother Sun Sister Moon, Powder, Amazing Grace, Gandhi, and The Little Buddha.
My favorite season, the one I am experiencing.

I view each new day as a previous gift. It is truly a privledge to see, hear, touch, taste, feel, love, to participate in the miracle of conscious being. I strive toward simplicity, experiencing that my soul is nourished by simple pleasures and withers without them. I relate very much to the mystical poetry of Blake:
" To see the world in a grain of sand, heaven in a wild flower, to hold infinity inthe palm of your hand, eternity in an hour." and Rumi: " Observe the wonders as they occur around you. Don't claim them. Feel the artistry moving through. And be silent. " In nature is where i feel closest to the divine.
Graduate studies: humanities(international studies & intercultural education), philosophy of education, business management and urban land economics.
Undergraduate studies: commerce - management, marketing & real estate investment with a humanities minor.
The qualities which i would enjoy in a life partner include: honesty, kindness, compassion, optimism, commitment, loyalty, gentleness, emotionally available, on a spiritual path, someone who shares a deep love of time in nature, not into materialism or consumerism, healthy physically, emotionally and financially.

Have been to Asia several times and taught English in both South Korea and England.
I didn't like North Korea but enjoyed Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Jeju Do Island.
